hello all! I realize I’ve been a little absent around here for the past week or so. As it turns out, I have a life! And it gets busy sometimes! There are three super awesome events going on in the next week….
Skeptics in the Pub – Kits
When: Wednesday, November 3 · 7:30pm – 10:30pm
Where: The Billy Bishop Legion; 1407 Laburnum St.
UBC Freethinkers GAMES NIGHT
When: Thursday, November 4 · 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Where: UBC; Irving K. Barber Learning Centre – 158
Do you enjoy board games, card games, strategy games or social games? This is a great opportunity to come together with some like-minded skeptics for a great time!
It will be fairly low-key; we will be bringing out some snacks and a stack of games so that people will be able to just pick them up and play once they’ve got a group together.
You will need to pay a $2 admission or be a UBC Freethinkers member to attend. Membership will be sold at the event.
If we get a good turnout then it may become a monthly deal, so come out and make this event a success!
Also feel free to bring your own games!
Atheist Breakfast
When: Sunday, November 7 · 11:30am – 7:00pm
Where: Station Square Pub Metrotown
Because one breakfast event per month is not nearly enough! This breakfast event is hosted by the wonderful Lars Martin at the Station Square Pub in Metrotown. I’ve never been so I can’t vouch for it but I will certainly be there this Sunday!
Open Forum
When: Sunday, November 7 · 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: St.John’s Vancouver; 1490 Nantion Ave. & Granville St.
If God is good, why is there suffering in the world?
Why is religion so intolerant?
Surely science has made faith look a little silly?
If God is real, why doesn’t He just write His name in the sky so everyone will believe in Him?
What about all the wars started in the name of religion?
If you have questions like these then come out to the Evening Service’s Open Forum, where a Panel will take on a number of these questions that are addressed that night. There will be singing and prayer with tea/coffee served afterwards.
